The Unsolved Murder on Twin Peaks Drive: The Rhonda Reynolds Case

Discover how a mother and a true crime author relentlessly pursued justice for 13 years, forcing a suicide ruling to be overturned to homicide despite systemic roadblocks.

Short Summary

  • Overturned initial suicide ruling, leading to a formal declaration of homicide by a coroner's inquest jury.
  • Investigators found evidence of marital strife involving fraud (forgery) and severe conflict with a stepson.
  • Crucial crime scene evidence was compromised early on, hindering subsequent criminal prosecution.
  • The case ultimately resulted in the jury naming suspects, but the prosecutor declined to follow through with criminal charges.

This segment covers the 13-year fight by Barb Thompson and author Ann Rule to reclassify the death of trooper Rhonda Reynolds from suicide to homicide. The investigation reveals strains in Rhonda's final marriage, questionable police work at the scene, and expert testimony challenging the mechanics of the shooting. Ultimately, while the inquest ruled homicide and named suspects, prosecutors declined to file charges due to insufficient evidence preservation.

Dude and his family are gross. Divorcing marriage counselor starts dating former patient...and then has affair with his ex-wife. Class act.

What pisses me off the most about this case is this is 100% solvable. If only the original officers would have done their duty, we would not be in this position now.

The creepy smirking from both the father and son while being questioned is not normal. Why would the son start doing meth after the “suicide” if he wasn’t trying to escape from his own demons? None of this passes the sniff test, they both are covering for each other.

Bringing your ex wife to her funeral is despicable. The entire family including, the parents-in-law, are absolute creeps.
