I'm from Portugal and when the power went out, everything closed, you couldn't get gas, the supermarkets closed, there were only 2 that were open for a few more hours because they had a generator, the trains and subways stopped and nobody knew what happened and to this day nobody knows for sure, there were a lot of accidents because there were no traffic lights, it was a bit scary.

In Washington D.C. I was riding a rented electric scooter around the white house and underneath an arched bridge there was a sign that read "Fallout Shelter" and had the nuclear fallout sign. If there are fallout shelters, deep underground military bases aren't that far fetched if an idea. We know about a few already. Also the mines where they store the retirement records could be attached. I do believe the Denver Airport is an entry way and central location to fly in thousands and move thousands as quick as possible. The entire airport is overbuilt. The trains inside the airport go through huge dim tunnels. I was there and even the staircases are extra wide to allow for more people to scurry down them faster. The metro train tunnels are quite large though, and they stop at a platform, if you keep looking the tunnel continues on for an unseen distance. During construction they had an incredible amount of waste soil and rock dug from underneath the airport. And trucked away to be tossed in the mountains. I do believ the denver airport too be a hub for something.

If there's a cataclysmic extinction event, bunkers are a false sense of security to the inevitable suffering to come.
