As a former ICU nurse, I can tell you confidently that that poor baby son wouldn't have been kept in that nice hospital once they found out he wasn't covered. They would have stabilized him and transferred him to the worst hospital in town that takes all the charity and welfare cases. Our healthcare system is indeed broken. This movie broke my heart.
Andrew: My father is in the ICU. Me: This is _not_ the movie to watch right now.
Not even joking when I say this could be Denzel’s best performance, heavily slept on movie
Andrew, really hoping your dad pulls through. All the love and good health and vibes your way dude
"I am not going to bury my son. My son is going to bury me." The most iconic line in this film. RIP Anne Heche, Ray Liotta. Nick Cassavetes from Face/Off directed this underrated film who is Gena Rowland and John Cassavetes son. He directed of course The Notebook which starred his mom playing the older version of Rachel McAdams' character.
Fun Fact: John Q was shot and filmed prior to Training Day. It was intentional to release Training Day first because Washington expressed that (Paraphrasing) "Whoever hated me in Training Day, will love me in John Q).
Movie came out 20+ years ago and it still SCREACHES the realities this country faces. We had a CEO of a major health insurance company get unalived because of the issues in affordability. Tell me how the world will evolve in 20 more years?
Really feeling for Andrew and Gregg right now. Both seem to be having their own struggles. Hang in there guys it will get better
I have always championed that Denzel should have earned an Oscar for this performance more than he earned for Training Day.
