Remember guys, this surgeon is not depressed nor is she suicidal
the general lack of anger towards Luigi is very indicative of the climate towards insurance companies
There's a reason Pixar depicted Mr. Incredible's lowest point as working at an insurance company. it creates a stark narrative contrast. He goes from saving lives as a superhero to being unable help others, even outright told not to
my uncle was a surgeon for many years and one story he told me stuck. Insurance was going to deny a claim for a surgery that was medically necessary for a patient's life and he flat out told the insurance company that if his patient died because of not getting the surgery done he would personally go after them for murder. the claim was promptly approved, but it just goes to show much these insurance companies truly do not care about the people that pay them ludicrous amounts of money each month.
“How many more CEO’s are we gonna have to go through to teach you this lesson old man?”
Funny thing is, hospitals are required to record phone calls with insurance companies. If they demanded she leave her post, then they're automatically sunk.
"Facts ain't defamation". If they keep pressing her I hope she starts a legal GoFundMe to fight them.
Just a reminder that a chemistry teacher working with a New Mexico drug cartel to afford cancer treatment used to considered farfetched television
“We expect that you take down the video and make a public apology.” These executives think we still live in an age where content can’t just be copied and shared millions of times over. They really expect that deleting the video and making an apology will magically make people think that the company was ‘right’ somehow. How are they so out of touch and apathetic?
Dr Potter is a baller. After the threat she said "the truth is an absolute defense to defamation claims" and therefore she had nothing to worry about. Absolute G.
