“Won’t someone PLEASE think of the shareholders!”
He is in Hell with Ayn Rand now
In a 1997 congressional testimony, Greenspan mused on why inflation remained so low despite what looked like a “hot economy”. An important reason: “worker insecurity.” He noted that fear of & occurred layoffs rose between 1991 and 1996, despite a markedly better economy After 25 years of relentless corporate downsizing. Workers, fearing that technological change would render them obsolete, kept their heads down. To Greenspan, these were all good things , as he smiled
My dad worked for Greenspan. My father told me that when I was born, he asked for a raise, and Greenspan told him that he got paid for what he did at work, not for what he did at home. Six months later, my dad quit for a better paying job where he worked for 20 years.
Wild to think that the housing crisis was almost 100% avoidable and that he and his cronies engineered it to happen and basically went “woopsie” when everything came apart. What’s even more maddening is that the government gave those banks truckloads of cash with absolutely no conditions on it and the CEO’s got bonuses. It’s a wonder there haven’t been more Mangione type scenarios before even him. I wonder what it takes for us all to get so pissed that nothing they do will placate us?
The super rich do not work jobs. They manage others and buy up everything in sight. Assets. The current corrupt system is designed to increase their wealth and tax cuts are never used to increase worker pay but to buyback their own stocks. Companies only pay more when they can’t find or keep workers. Look around. See who gets the best paying jobs for the least amount of labor. Hint; it’s not minorities. (Mostly non college degree jobs). Only government jobs give opportunities to minorities.
I made a movie about this disaster called Heist: who stole the American dream. It’s free on the Internet like YouTube.
“The deficit doesn’t matter under Republicans though!”
Carter nominated Volker. Reagan renominated him in 1983.
Douglas Adams billed the 4th Hitchhikers Guide book as the "4th installment in the increasingly inaccurately named trilogy".
