Trump DOJ DRAGGED into TESTIFY as They FACE CRIMINAL CONTEMPT?!?!

Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian break down Chief Judge James Boasberg's investigation into whether Trump DOJ lawyers violated his March 15 court order to stop deportation flights to El Salvador's notorious CECOT prison. During a Saturday hearing, Boasberg ordered planes carrying Venezuelan nationals be turned around, but the flights landed in El Salvador anyway. Whistleblower Erez Reuveni—a 15-year DOJ attorney fired in April—revealed that on March 14, Emil Bove (then Principal Associate Deputy Attorney General, now Third Circuit judge with lifetime appointment) told DOJ attorneys the "planes need to take off no matter what" and after a pause said "if some court should issue an order preventing that, we may have to consider telling that court, fuck you." DOJ lawyer Drew Ensign told Boasberg he didn't know if flights were imminent, but Reuveni's texts show Ensign knew "about the flights" during the hearing. The DC Circuit Court ruled Boasberg can proceed with contempt inquiry to identify "decision makers who directed the potentially contentious actions." Boasberg wants sworn testimony from Reuveni and Ensign starting December 1, with criminal contempt penalties including fines or jail time potentially reaching Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller. When questioned by Senator Adam Schiff about the "fuck you" comment, Bove said "I don't recall"—a weak answer that leaves interpretation open.
