I remember debating my teacher in elementary school that the wear in the limestone around The Great Sphinx of Giza in Egypt was water erosion and she flat out told me that was wrong because the history book we had said the sphinx was the same age as the pyramids, and now we have proven it is much older, and was made when Giza was verdant and had significant rainfall, creating the water erosion around the sphinx we can still see today!

I have found that, in teaching children, you have to start very broadly at the expense of nuance to establish general ideas. It is imperative though that that nuance be added rather quickly because if it isn't, that nuance can become destabilizing it harnessed by bad actors.

The food pyramid was actually somewhat upside down when I was in school. Grains and cereals were the worst thing for us. Protein should be the largest of them.
