I know we really only hear about conservatorships when they go wrong, but I'm starting to feel like they are way too easy to abuse.
Yep, it is so disgusting that the conservative clause is being abused IMO. If the conservatee is not able to take care of themselves, then they shouldn’t be able to work to make money for the conservators! So upsetting to hear.
I have been avoiding this one. It hurts my heart to think he was taken advantage of. But I think if Emily tells me about it, I can handle it
I met my daughter when she was 4. Due to circumstances we were unable to adopt her. We finally got to last year. She was 35.
Sounds like the judge conveniently overlooked his due diligence. Is that correct, Emily?
I have conservatorship for my son. We applied in Nashville and had to prove that my son was not capable of making medical, educational and financial decisions. We had to answer many questions and needed to provide records as proof. We have to file paperwork annually. I filed late one year and was fined and the court also threatened the loss of conservatorship if not paid. That was in Nashville obviously Memphis is not on top of their court orders.
Also, if Micheal had tried a 'shakedown' many times, why didn't they end the conservatorship on many of those alleged occasions??
I think the attorney “Aunt Deb” had a conflict of interest because she was so close to the family. She should have recused herself because she did not advise him well.

Emily, thanks so much for reporting on this! Please stay on this story. How these people (the Tuohy's, "Aunt" Debbie, the judge, DHS, Fox, and on and on and on) got away with this is mind blowing. I pray people end up in jail over this. That the Tuohy's went to TMZ to make a statement says volumes about them (TMZ is the opposite of "on the up and up").
