Description

With authoritarianism on the rise abroad and at home, the right to privacy has never been more important, nor has it been under such grave threats.  In this episode of Legal AF, host Ray Brescia speaks with Daniel Solove, the Eugene L. and Barbara A. Bernard Professor of Intellectual Property and Technology Law at George Washington University Law School. Solove is one of the world’s leading experts on privacy law. In addition to publishing several books on the topic, including, most recently, 'On Privacy and Technology', he has a new article out in the Boston College Law Review that couldn’t be more timely. Hi, Ray! 👍🙌😊 Thank you, Professor Solove. You talk about things that are very disturbing and are happening as we speak. As an old man with a brain that still functions adequately, thank god, I am prepared to fight back against the merger of autocracy with capitalistic technology. These are issues that our founding fathers could never have imagined, but they were aware of the danger as they saw it through their 18th Century eyes. I would refer to it as the "Spirit of the Law" as opposed to the "Letter of the Law." This is something that I believe the "Constitutional Originalists" have lost sight of. We need some common sense, but dogmatic ideology is the antithesis of common sense. I do not think Thomas Paine would be pleased with our current Supreme Court. I will do what I can, but I certainly am bolstered in knowing that people, such as you gentlemen, are also in this fight. I thank you. 🙌👍

Protect voter data, at all costs, from the Trump DOJ! Keep Palantir out of the Pentagon.

Individualism is not respected by authoritarianism. The ruling group considers themselves the law. Therefore, gathering information to persecute anybody different is their highest priority.

Have we all forgotten about the "DOGE" raids on all our private data and the potential breaches which musk and the rest of the maga cabal have and will continue to do

Great interview. I am an old school programmer who saw the coming of age of the internet. Years ago there were those who cautioned about the "Age of technology". I have always known the dangers and taught to my family. Here it is, 35 years later and nothing surprises me about any of this. Before that, early 60's they used sublimal messaging in movie theaters. They fought that too. In the end money wins. Facebook took it to a whole nother level. BAN X BAN

Thank you, I am very concerned about this. I am especially concerned now with the red states turning over voter rolls to the regime. They should not have access to the state information and I am looking jnto a class action suit against the state.

It’s very sad and concerning to me when we don’t have any privacy, the government has access to our data taking away our privacy extremely sad and disturbing physical technology open up bar door be exposed with our privacy. It’s so sad like when you ask about the three things that the government’s giving us food but they want you to answer certain questions that’s an invasion to get more information containing to you or anyone else, I pray to God that they will find a way to shut this down and then us live our life in privacy that we’re entitled to.

It’s crazy that this video is about this because I was just looking at surveillance cameras, all destroyed by my fellow Oregonians 😂 . I live at the coast, no large cities here , but apparently there were some in our cities and the people smashed them 😂
