A true legend is before our eyes. 85 years old and still kicking it. What a man.
Joe’s UFO podcasts are by far his best ones in my opinion
Finally the solo Vallée episode the world deserves has arrived!
Thank you Joe for inviting him back. Its pure joy listening to him. He is a legend.
For 85 this guy looks good and communicates great.
I love Joe Rogan University. Some days you're at the Friday bar, other days you're dropped into physics, math, biology, religion and social studies and always with the absolute best teachers. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this opportunity for inspiration. I've read most of Jaques Valle's books and hearing him here is a great gift.
No matter where Jacques leaves his car, it's Vallée parking. -Dad joke of the day.
I have profound respect for Dr. Jacques Vallée. He admirably embodies style, class, and courtesy. These traits combined in one person are unfortunately rare these days. During his lectures and talks, he doesn't exaggerate, doesn't brag, and doesn't pretend to be something he's not. People like Dr. Jacques Vallée make the world a better place! Imagine having a father or a caregiver like him!
For those wondering, yes, he's the one depicted in the movie 'Close Encounters'. Francois Truffaut, a new wave French Director, was asked by Spielberg to play the character of Dr. Lacombe, a French UFO investigator. The charcacter in the movie was based on Joe's guest, Jacques Vallée. J. Allen Hynek, who is mentioned in this interview, was his friend and fellow scientist (astronomer) who coined the phrase Close Encounters, and created the classification system of CE. Hynek was asked by the USAF to investigate UFOs for various projects, Project Blue Book being the most well known. Hyneck was a scientist and skeptic out to debunk the sightings for the public. But he ended up convinced something was going on. Later he founded the pioneer UFO research group CUFON. In the film J. Allen Hynek appears at the Devil's Tower event at the end (bearded man with pipe). Jacques Vallée does not appear in the film, though the character is directly based on him.
