As a Canadian, liberals didn't have a chance until Trump starting talking

I’m in Toronto and voted today. Took me 10 minutes to vote and most votes will be counted by today. It’s amazing to me when I see Americans standing in line for hours to vote and it takes days for some states to report final results.

I’m American, but I lived in Canada (in Ontario) for years. While Canadians are generally polite, they quickly lose that politeness when faced with a loud pushy American.

Ironic how Trump tanked US sense of national pride and has boosted national pride in other countries

I think that there is an obligation here for all Canadian political parties to better align policies with younger voters who are not financially secure due to housing prices, affordability, and changing demographics. No matter who wins, they will need to address these issues. This is not a partisan issue, it's a generational one.

In Canada we don't have that insane federal election system in the USA either. In Canada provinces don't set federal election rules, unlike in the USA where states have their own federal election laws and they can vary from state to state. There is one set of laws governing federal elections throughout Canada and a non-partisan independent government agency called "Elections Canada" oversees federal elections in Canada, thus no government can put their hand on the scale. Unlike in the USA where voter suppression is the norm.
