DeepSeek: What Actually Matters (for the everyday user)

Great video. You don't always need fancy graphics or slick edits. And in any case, your idea of a less edited video is still streets ahead of so many! So important to dispel these myths.

Even the 50,000 GPUs that someone says "we believe they have access to.." is a speculation. No one can show a proof of that either. Since some organization has already started replicating their work based on the research paper they published, we might be able to confirm the cost in a couple of months. Until then, I believe it would be better to focus on adding to the innovations they have given out to the world for free rather than trying hard in finding reasons to diminish their accomplishments.

it's a timely video with all the noise during the lunar new year on deepseek, even comes up in new year conversations with uncles and aunties over meals! So much hype and myths....glad u put them in a list and explained them in plain terms, so everyday folks can have a more balanced, informed and nuanced view of this new development heating up the AI adoption.

I think the phrase “Sputnik moment” is more about social impact than technological advancement. It’s when America’s assumed leadership in a field is suddenly surpassed or bypassed by another country. Dealing with that reality can result in political, social and economic changes.

4:00 That's right, it's illogical to compare DeepSeek R1 with internet search and GPT O1 without that feature, so in the Chinese model you can just disable internet search and compare the two AI models.
