I read somewhere that Squid Game's script was repeatedly rejected and ignored by the Korean media until Netflix picked it up. It seems like they didn't want this case to gain global attention.
I remember when squid Game first came out here in the US.... I thought "this show is telling us more than just a story. This feels like a dystopian real life." It breaks my heart to know this is real.
The fact that this happened I the 80s/90s and those abused are the same ages of myself is insane. I will never understand how an adult could hurt a child in any of those ways.
My roomate once told me "sometimes i think the devil is amused by how humans are more evil" and now it makes sense...how can a human do this. THIS IS DISTURBING. GENERALLY SHOCKING ,PURE EVIL and the fact that the victims are in there 40's and 50's who were teens at the time makes it more insane and how inhumane this was...literally..When i 1st saw s1 of squid game i was honestly taken a back by how i found it low key gory,i havent watched s2 yet but seeing this case , this is so scary and traumatic . Thank u for covering this
The fact that your researchers went out to conduct actual interviews are insane. It just goes to show how much you and your team cares about the stories you share and its authenticity!
the story about the boy running to meet his dad only to realize he’s also wearing a blue tracksuit put a pit in my stomach. the idea of wishing for someone to save you from hell only for that someone to be trapped with you is terrifying.
I'm so shocked that this place existed just because of the twisted concept of "cleaning the city" for the Olympics, is just so inconceivable.
The people I know who who survived Brother's Home are not happy with it being compared to Squid Game. They feel like it trivializes what actually happened. They also didn't choose to be there, they were kidnapped, some from their own yards while playing as kids. They feel that the comparison doesn't really convey the true horrors and human rights violations they went through.
