Just watched the Tucker/Sachs interview. That was a great interview, and a very good and concise explanation of the historical context of the Ukraine disaster.

Years ago (30+ years) I had just finished my athletics career culminating in being an Olympic Finalist. As I searched for a new direction in my life I decided on the military (Canadian). I joined the reserves and was quickly identified as officer material. I wrote a battery of tests, went through multiple interviews and background checks passing everything with flying colors, or so I was told. I was at the height of physical fitness and strength and spoke fluent Polish, at the time the language of our adversaries in the Warsaw Pact. I was young motivated and still stupid enough to believe we represented "the good side". At that point I was told that I had a final interview by someone flying in from Ottawa (Canadian Capital). The interview started as all the rest but very quickly the Gentleman ask me a direct question : 'Have you or anyone in your family ever been a member of the Communist party?'. Obviously they already knew the answer as we emigrated to Canada as a family in the early 70's at which point we were vetted so they knew everything. My father, as a young college student was indeed a member of the Communist Party years before. In those days it was a must in Poland in order to have any chance at a meaningful career. My interviewer, upon hearing my response, closed the open binder in front of him and so ended my short military career. I bring this incident up simply to expose the level of stupidity that exists in the Canadian military but also at all levels of government. I suspect the reason the Western world finds itself in the mess its in is directly linked to very stupid and extremely short sighted decisions made by extremely mediocre individuals, just like my military interviewer, that ended my military career before it started. These people seem to be everywhere and every time they open their mouths I listen with amazement and horror.
