Affirmative action for university is basically admitting that k-12 education is failing black students without caring to solve that.

Helping people based on things like race or sex isn't right IMO. Helping poor kids with a lot of potential is good though, no matter what their identity group is.

100% good to end affirmative action, now time to end legacy preference admissions.

The fact she's surprised you read the linked study really embodies most people who have strong opinions about issues

I think farha is slowly finding out that she herself falls under the category of people who say they do research base on reading a twitter thread. Now we sit and see if she actually has the desire to do said research she loves to claim she does in the future

Sweden also started doing affermative action to some degree and found out that it was not actually benefitting the students themselves. The thing about really high pressure schools is that you need to be ready for them, both mentally and in terms of how well you study and people who actually shouldn't get in by merit will have a really hard time there. Now I'm not saying everyone who does it will fail, there are people who have shined but it is a minority of cases. I think getting accepted by merit and merit alone is the way to go for society in the long run. Sadly, this will affect poorer areas and has nothing to do with race. It's just the reality.
