Don’t bother looking—you won’t see it. You won’t know that it’s growing to envelop you until it’s way too late. And it definitely won’t look like the classic picture of a black hole that you’re probably familiar with. I remember starting watching PBS spacetime, for nice lil videos about stars and space fancies. Now it's theoretical physics with complicated maths. Honestly I love the progression but sometimes my primate brain struggles to keep up

"Don't panic, it's already too late" is a hilarious intro line. :D

I thought I found an event horizon behind my couch when I looked, but it was just my black cat.

Matt's hands must be entire seconds younger than his shoulders by now.

Only PBS Space Time can take something called an event horizon and make the plot twist happen before the event.

"it'll make things a bit clearer. hopefully". dang that's a load-bearing "hopefully" if i ever heard one

i just discovered this. how wonderful that there's someone who can explain current physics without dumbing it down *so* much that its incomprehensible to a trained scientist! thanks so much for directing your presentations to a "reasonably educated common denominator" and not "a least common denominator" ... where i'm sure the urge to maximize clicks favors the latter. this is so useful, since -- well, i'm not a physicist myself (biophysics) -- but its so useful to have someone review the current literature and examine it in the context of current research. its a moving target but so complex and interesting and ... well, you do an excellent job making me believe that I (kinda) understand thngs that I probably don't completely understand but ... we're venturing into fuzzy/open problem here. So well handled. Hats off!
