Assessing the Theory: Are We Living Inside a Black Hole?

Discover the compelling mathematical premise suggesting our entire universe might reside within a massive black hole, and weigh the observational facts that challenge this extraordinary claim.

Short Summary

  • The mass and size of the observable cosmos mathematically align with a hypothetical black hole calculation.
  • This model elegantly resolves the Big Bang singularity problem by proposing a universal "bounce."
  • Direct observational evidence points toward an isotropic universe, contradicting the anisotropic nature required by black hole geometry.
  • The apparent rotation observed in galaxies and quasars is explained better by the Cosmic Web structure.

This discussion explores Black Hole Cosmology, a mathematical framework proposing our universe formed on the inside of a gravitational collapse within a parent black hole. We examine the specific coincidences, such as mass/size matching, that support the model, alongside critical observational evidence like isotropy that strongly contradicts it. Reviewing both sides will establish the current standing of this captivating cosmological proposition.

Anton, the clarity of your explanations is remarkable. How you can put together one of these presentations every day baffles me. I like to think that I can master material quickly and present it cogently, but you are in a different league. Keep it coming please!

"The main evidence we don't live in a black hole is the the CMB looking the same everywhere." Recent video: "The CMB doesn't look the same in all directions"

Maybe the black hole was the friends we met along the way.

Ah, that explains the crushing pressure I've been feeling.

I've always liked the idea that our universe was a single bubble in a foam of other universe bubbles. No science to support that, but it sounds good

The short answer - possibly.

Sheesh. Cosmology is getting weirder and more unbelievable every day.

4:44 honestly that background makes me nauseously horrified imagining that universal rollercoaster ride in the background moving thousands of times the speed of light. Also it makes you look like a god-like cosmic being.
