I had the exact same thought that William, after he killed the kids, took their toys and gave them to Vanessa
I think Vanessa is trying to do what Mike did in the first movie: Using Dream Theory to see if she can remember more details about her past and get answers to whatever's happening.
If I had a nickel for everytime Megan Fox was casted in a movie series with sentient unnatural robots who are in disguise and are more than meets the eye I'd have two nickels.
Honestly, the FNaF movie trilogy feels like Scott finally getting to tell the story the way he originally intended and end it with the third movie if he wants. After fans criticized Springtrap’s jumpscare in the third game, FNAF 4 was made, which made the story even more confusing. The movies are a chance to fix all that and finally make sense of the lore, which had become one giant spaghetti Ennard.
Who would want to see all the theorists battle it out in paintball?

Fun fact: the official website for the gummibear song recently updated their tv and movie collab section to include the FNAF movies. The song came out in 2007 which is after the movie supposedly takes place (or so I heard). The gummibear album not only comes to stores on November 13th, but it also might break the FNAF timeline.
