I love how Zuko just decides to challenge Katara to a fight at night during the full moon surrounded by nothing but water, ice and snow in all directions 🤣

Book 1 was good, but Book 2 is a masterpiece of storytelling, and my absolute favorite!!!

I like how far the characters have come. Aang not running away from being the Avatar, Katara becoming a waterbending master, Sokka overcoming his sexism, and even Zuko trying to save Zhao and then finally resting. Such amazing character arcs!

Uncle Iroh is so wholesome and wise and funny. Hands down, my favorite character of the whole show. RIP Mako ❤

For some reason it always hits me when the ocean spirit is fighting the fire nation soldiers and the water tribe members immediately bow to him

29:44 girlllll, just imagine watching this back in 2005!! I was a kid first watching that scene, I was BALLING 😢!!! Also Katara and Sokka are technically royalty of the South Pole due to their father being the Chief of the Village! And with Aang, he said he will never firebend again because he hurt Katara and he’s seen the effects of Firebending from Zuko and the Fire Nation as well. She couldn’t heal the spirit because you need the moon and ocean spirits together for water bending. Now that’s explained, no worries, I got you girl 😂💕

The battle of the Northern Water Tribe was like the battle of Helm's Deep from The Lord of the Rings, but instead of Men & Elves fighting against an army of Uruk-Hai, we got the Water Tribe vs the Fire Nation

I love how Yue's story perfectly illustrates the moral foundation of the Water Tribes. She values family and duty over everything, even her own emotional needs. Contrast with Katara, who defies tradition to learn waterbending from Pakku, and Sokka, who refuses to accept that his station doesn't allow him to court Yue. It's brilliant. I wish we'd seen more of her, but her role is perfect. It's also really interesting that the Moon Spirit used her as its horcrux -- it must have known that it would someday face this. The spirit world is mysterious, and it's cool that we don't get a tidy explanation for everything. Aang merging with the Ocean Spirit is a novel use of the Avatar State, and it's awesome how creative the show manages to be about finding new ways to showcase this power. Unlike before, when his glow-ups came from mortal danger or intense emotional trauma (or in one case was guided by Roku), this time it's a call to action. "The world is in danger and I'm the only one who can save it." As we have seen before, and will see again, it's not really in his control, not yet. Zuko's decision to take revenge on Zhao instead of trying yet again to capture Aang is a bold one. I wonder if it's purely ego-driven or something else. Regardless, I love the callback to "a man needs his rest". It's funny that we are presented with him as the villain at the start of the season, but over time Zhao takes over, and everyone, even the other Fire Nation characters, has to fight him. Zuko may be an antagonist, but he's frequently given treatment as if he's a protagonist. It's also very clever that, at the end of Book 1, it's not Aang who becomes a master waterbender, but Katara. It's impressive for a female character (especially who isn't the main one) to be given so much agency. All in all, this is about as perfect an ending to the first season as anyone could have wanted, but it just keeps getting better from here.

At least Zhao wasn't a hypocrite, he told Zuko to accept his failure, and he did it himself, when the opportunity arrives
