Description

Eric welcomes The Bulwark's own Mona Charen back to the show to discuss the week's developments. They cover the President's meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and the Vice President's trip to Hungary before pivoting to Vance's new diplomatic assignment to negotiate an end to the war with Iran. They assess the potential impact on Vance's political aspirations and the splits in MAGA world over the war. They also discuss the role Israeli PM Bibi Netanyahu played in persuading Trump to go to war and the catastrophic damage that Bibi has done to Israel's support in the U.S. Finally, they examine the Trump administration's hostility to Catholicism and rebuke recent comparisons between presidents Trump & Reagan. Friendly reminder that without NATO, the US wouldn't have access to the European air bases and probably not even air space that are essential to fighting their stupid illegal war in Iran. "Has he said thank you already?"

There is no left vs right anymore. We see these people for who they are. Warmongering profiteers who exploit everyone so that they can sit at the top of the pyramid. We will no longer participate in their vile schemes. Organize, Boycott, Divest, Strike, Protest. Do everything and anything you can to gum up the system. Humanity wins this time.

Germany here we learned it the hard way but we didn’t have the tools to get rid of Hitler. The impeachment process is available to the American politicians hence use it!

37:50 I generally agree with you all up until you bring up Israel. Israel and the Trump admin closed 400 UN food distributions points and replaced them with FOUR food distribution points and then SHOT anybody that showed desperation. Maybe, maybe, maybe that might not be a dictionary definition of genocide but it is at the very least starving a population into submission. What Israel did in Gaza by restricting access to food, shelter and constantly moving them around and exposing the populace to the elements is kinda what the Ottomans did to the Armenians a little over a hundred years ago. And we know the 'g' word is used to describe those actions.

I love it. Shrödinger's Strait, while also having Shrödinger's President & Shrödinger's Congress & Shrödinger's Cabinet, etc.

From the rest of the world's perspective we have proven that our system is incapable of quickly ejecting a horrible leader. Our set four year terms for President and two and four years for Congress mean that we can be taken over by a minoritarian ideology. Add to that our imbalance in state represeantation in the Senate and the ridiculous electoral college show we caan never again be trusted to quickly fix our mistakes. If I were a parliminary deomocracy I'd conclude that the U.S. has shown that it can always be taken over by a tyrant and if I wanted to protect a democratic ideal, I'd need to look elsewhere.

Let's also remember Reagan is directly responsible for the siphoning of trillions of dollars from the working and middle class to the elites which is a direct cause of our current predicament

America placed itself in this position as it did not want European countries to rearm and thus decrease the potential for war. Just look where we are when your rogue president goes to war with no consultation and expects depleted nations to just put themselves in harms way when he doesn't want to to put his own troops at risk in the straite. As a Britush person I am royally passed off
