When local law enforcement allowed the crime scene to be trampled upon after 2 days, and compromised crucial evidence, you just knew this investigation was going to be a clusterf**k.
I'm pretty sure ever who it was probably knew it was Savannah Guthrie's mother, one way or another.

The creepy guy is there to throw law enforcement off to the real criminal(s), as James Hamilton has stated. The entire case is wacky, and the question remains, "Why abduct an 84-year-old woman"? Great panel of guests.
I wouldn't dismiss it if he came down the chiminey like santa
