Hot take, Hasan's worst take was actually his Crimea one. The subject matter or tone of his other greatest hits are more certainly more toxic... many have additional context that could afford >1% charity (9/11, I don't care about grapes, etc). The Crimea one is just objectively wrong on it's face and entirely antithetical to his own defense of Palestinians (anti imperialism, self determination, sanctity of borders). What makes this so egregious is it lays bare just how blinded he is by "America bad". If we are talking about litmus tests, I can afford the left anti Israeli sentiment (60%+ of the electorate)... but on the flip side... any lefty who supports Russia even 1% should not be engaged with. What Russia has done in Ukraine is orders of magnitude worse than what Israel has done to Gaza. It's not even close. There is no defense.

OMg, Tim the Democrats are struggling with that demographic specifically because of Hasan and his brand of politics. They don't like us. They think we are just like Republicans BECAUSE of HASAN and people like him. People like Jennifer WElch who then ambushes every moderate she talks to about how Democrats aren't "fighting fighting fighting." Omg the Democrats are running around like Chickens with their heads cut off they have shut down congress twice and both times the public rightly blamed the Republicans for it. That alone are huge wins. And the progressives are trying to rip success out of the jaws of victory by saying they still aren't fighting enough. Dems are filing those court cases to stop all these EOs. They opening investigations, they got the Epstein files released. Chuck Shumer used the "Gang of Five" rule so that the Oversight committee could get them unredacted. Did anyone give him credit for that, no. The cloture vote in March of 2025 was the best move we had on the table and what did he say, "by July public opinion will have turned on them so much that if we need to do a shutdown to force a conversation of healthcare that is when we do it so it is clear Democrats are trying to work with the Republicans and the public will blame the Republicans for that shutdown" and he was right about that one also. I hope he doesn't run again, however, people who want AOC to run should understand that winning a Senate race in New York is noting at all like winning her House seat. Up state New York is a whole different monster. They may be okay with paying higher taxes but they aren't going to sign onto a socialist platform. I wouldn't have any problem with Hasan if he was actually trying to work with Democrats. He and his audience hate Democrats and talk about that more than they ever talk about Republicans at all.
