I love the fact that she has to float from the top of her house to get to the car because they never put stairs in doll houses, is just so funny lmfao
I love that they're keeping the plastic aesthetic and exaggerated architecture. Plus, all the actors are perfectly hilarious for their roles. I know this movie is going to be a great time.
i think the movie is gonna lean into the gender stereotypes/gender roles thing a lot, like the real world scene where barbie is confused why the men were looking at her then gets her ass slapped. barbie has always been the "girl" toy and also seen as the "perfect woman" so i think this will have a deeper message than anyone is expecting tbh im excited it looks insane in a good way
I can’t wait to do a Barbie and Oppenheimer double feature day, 2 very different movies but equally intriguing
This movie is intriguingly weird, and I can't wait.
It’s crazy that mattel allowed this movie considering they made mattel the antagonist
I love that there are things that girls just get it when they see this. The barbie "lore" is not just something you can search is more something that you know if you played with barbies

I feel like this movie is about growing up, learning to get out in the real world and away from toys but it could also show that maybe in the end you don’t need to fully get rid of your creative child like mindset but still should experience more outside the world than your toys and stuff and that there could be a balance of still collecting things you grew up with while being an adult. It’s could be a message for both adults and children to grow up but never forget your childhood and creativity which if that’s what this movie ends up being then that would be refreshing and wholesome for once
For me what is interesting is that, as much as Barbie always fell into the "pinkish girly" box she was also really beyond her time in many aspects. In her animated movies she was always the one to save herself, always had a strong sense of personality and qualities beyond her looks, and as a doll she could be ANYTHING you wanted her to be in MANY ways. She was a president way before my country had a woman in presidency and many countries still never experienced that. And as much as she was always gorgeous, things like sexism or harrasment are things she didnt experience in her world, but she will experience in ours
