If my friend "accidentally" shot themselves, the first thing I'm NOT gonna do is say, "welp, I think he'd want me to have his money. Let me just get his debit card out of his wallet and drive down yonder to the bank." I fully realize the parents are convinced their kids are innocent, but you don't wipe fingerprints off, lie about shooting a gun the night before to explain residue and attempt to empty a bank account. When I used to drive a school bus, I'd have parents defend their kids even when they were captured on video, and you're not going to convince them otherwise.
