Mysterious Disappearance in a Tight-Knit Kansas Town
Investigate the circumstantial evidence surrounding Michael Golib’s 2005 disappearance, where a custody battle pitted him against his wealthy ex-partner and her powerful new husband.
Short Summary
- Michael Golib vanishes on May 20, 2005, after agreeing to collect his son.
- Key suspects, Chad and Shannon Floyd, face intense scrutiny due to motive (custody dispute) and physical evidence (blood/DNA under their deck).
- The Floyds’ deep community ties made securing a fair trial exceptionally difficult, resulting in two consecutive hung juries.
- Prosecutors eventually dropped all charges, leaving Michael officially missing and his family without closure or access to his son.
This report dissects the elements of the investigation, exploring motives, forensic discoveries, failed prosecutions, and the lingering mystery of Michael’s fate in rural Kansas.

the judge should have ordered an outside jury.
They're SO GUILTY... Horrible people. 💔
I knew Mike, not really well. But well enough to know that he was a funny, lovable and kind man. He really loved his son Mikey and took every opportunity to spend time with him as he could. He absolutely adored his girl Brook and they were both super excited about their soon to be child. I got the chance to meet his mom several years after he disappeared and I knew where Mike got all his attributes from as his mom was a lovely woman. It just absolutely breaks my heart that she never got any answers or closure she deserved before she passed away. My heart still hearts for Brook, Mikey and Cameron. Everyone here in southwest Kansas knows exactly what happened and who did it. I just hope that someday Mikey(who’s in his 20s now) will start seeking answers and justice for his dad!
I hope that when his son is old enough to understand, he will find this story and reach out to his father’s family ❤
IT'S SAD HOW MONEY TALKS , AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE,ITS DISGUSTING
Idk what’s worse - The defense or the jury.
THEY REDEPOSITED THE BRIBE?! A blood STAINED deck??? A missing gun????! Seriously how did these people get away with this?
This is crazy! How could you call this episode Justice in the heartland? No Justice was done there.
Yup, the drug ring, affair, jealous lover all accumulated while Mike was summoned to pick his child up at a different location than is typical? I dunno how this jury came up with anything else other than guilty. The recent Yogurt Shop Murders being finally solved does spark a little hope that Mikes family will get the answers and Justice they deserve. The title should be changed on this video, No Justice in The Heartland or Justice in The Heartland Bought and Paid. Edit: Oh, and Chad is now a truck driver, perfect cover for a serial killer?
