Make healthy foods less expensive.
It seems that removing a single ingredient from the American diet, high fructose corn syrup, would be a good start.
I support removing ultra processed foods completely
Many of the ultra processed food companies are literally tobacco companies, and they use the same playbook. RJ Reynolds > Nabisco. Phillip Morris > Kraft Heinz, General Foods, Miller, 7-Up. I see many social parallels as well. I ate many of these things growing up, I can’t believe my parents did that, but they just didn’t know any better. I’ve since removed them from my shopping cart and home (OK, about 95%) but it took me until I was about 40. Now I am raising my kids to know better from the start.
We would never let out kids smoke and yet what kids eat is a recipe for countless health issues.
Fiber has been stripped out of the food supply as well.
1. Stress 2. Lack of walkable cities and towns 3. Lack of education 4. Ultraprocessed food
A telltale marker for ultra-processed 'food' is if it has a commercial on TV. If you see it advertised, don't buy it cuz it isn't actually food - it's just sugar-laden chemical slop meant to keep you hungry and give you cravings.
This is much bigger than the tobacco issue was.
Best decision of my life was going on a strict whole food keto diet. Anyone that makes it past 2 weeks can finally understand that suger is an incredibly powerful drug.
