Back in 2014, my brain inflamed from toxic mold illness, body wracked with pain, and experiencing side effects from a medication with a black box warning, I struggled with the most severe depression of my life (after decades of CPTSD), and spent hours a day in suicidal ideation. Some close friends who had shrooms invited me to take some with them at their country retreat, and within 30 minutes of dosing, I felt filled with love and peace, and couldn’t stop the tears of joy from flowing. That peace and joy lasted 3 whole months, and in that time I was able to thrive in my business and personal life. It’s such a shame that the US government has so stigmatized psychedelics for so long, so it’s wonderful to see a change of consciousness on this coming. Psychedelics, although not for everyone, can be truly life saving. Thank you for covering this story!

I don’t have PTSD but have used psilocybin a number of times. Initially, I didn’t use it for any purpose other than to see what the hype was about. What ended up happening during my first session was that I began to plainly feel my body. It’s almost like being extra sober. I could feel my muscle fibers, how much space I physically occupied, how a light’s brightness level was making my eye feel — thoughts that ordinarily would be buried at a strictly subconscious level. I felt very alive. Later, I began to passionately feel the disconnects between the thoughts that I’ve held over the years and the way I live. For example, if I don’t particularly care about “fitting in” with society, why do I dress, act, and speak to fit in? Wouldn’t it be better for me to be myself and find people who like what I’m doing? I felt like I could analyze my life from a third person perspective — like I was the author of my life, not the protagonist, if that makes sense. I don’t think it’s any coincidence that soon after my first few psychedelic experiences, I began to shed my old habits and develop a new image, personality, and confidence. Most importantly, I feel like I’ve found myself. I know who I want to be, and I think that person is pretty cool, so I’m no longer nervous or anxious.

I macro dose on my first mushrooms and only experience. I went through an ego death experience and closed my past chapters of my life. I woke up happy and it truly changed my life. I am more confident with family, career, and closer with GOD. Grateful for this experience

My wife says that psychedelics have helped how I approach my issues from my time in service. They honestly make me feel very normal.
