Balancing Progressivism with Pragmatism: Immigration, Tech Culture, and Political Extremism with Rep. Ro Khanna

Learn how Democratic leaders navigate ideological battles by acknowledging policy wins from opponents and how the party must shift its culture to retain the crucial support of the technology sector.

Short Summary

  • Stop rewarding outrage and extremism in politics; focus returns to aspirational, forward-looking policy debates.
  • Reforming the H-1B visa system requires targeting outsourcing abuse while ensuring pathways for high-skilled talent needed to compete globally in AI.
  • Democrats are losing alignment with tech leaders due to cultural vilification rather than engaging on economic opportunity and innovation.
  • Public safety demands pragmatic policy shifts, recognizing that social justice reforms have overcorrected in certain major cities, impacting local executive leadership.

This discussion with Congressman Ro Khanna explores critical fault lines in current American governance, including fixing strained immigration channels, addressing the national decline in political civility, and navigating complex geopolitical competition in AI. Khanna advocates for a principled, honest approach—calling balls and strikes—which requires both parties to de-escalate rhetoric and focus on concrete economic revival agendas.

Khanna repeatedly mentioned Trump by name, yet praises Mamdani for not doing so.

The two Davids are notably missing - clearly they don't have time for Khanna's nonsense.

I've been a channel subscriber from close to the start! I really like the conversations and have respected the political thought transitions. I'm blown away that JCal is hanging on to original j6 bs!!! So much information is currently available, and new info exposing the lie continues to come out! Between that and Khanna supporting the New York Socialist candidate, etc, this was a ridiculous guest and conversation! ❤ you guys, though!!!

It’s great to have people come on from the left so we can hear all sides and not be in an echo chamber. And while Ro sounds reasonable and even keeled, which is refreshing, his views are sneakily extreme and not as moderate as he makes it out to be. But then again that’s just because the left has gone sooo far left even someone who thinks they’re moderate as a Dem is wayyy further left field than the traditional position truly is
