I've tried to keep up with several keto/carnivore channels for a couple of years now and it's time to thin the herd. It seems several are reading from the same script lately, one week it's supplements, others something else and now they're all stuck on adding back carbs. Dr. Chaffee and Dr. Westman are always steady, confident and knowledgable. This was a timely video.
When i was young, poor and living in the bush we hunted rabbits and wild pigs. Occasional snake turtle, barramundi etc. All were very lean so we spent our money on lard, tallow, butter and dairy to get that fat satiety. We didnt eat veggies or fruit because of severe drought and rarely bought flour. We thrived and were lean and strong. Fat rocks
The single biggest step change in my health came when I cut all carbs from my diet. Instantaneously I cured my lifelong allergies and my multi-decade joint pain.
Man, you were on fire!!! I didn’t intend on watching the entire video but you kept me engrossed, I couldn’t stop watching. I don’t know how much fat I am consuming but it is enough because the stool is not hard. So glad I have retired, now I only eat when my body tells me I need to. Such a game changer.

People lose weight very quickly on high fat carnivore; it is a myth that you have to reduce fat to lose fat when keto or carnivore to run on your own body fat. Remember that fat contains multiple essential nutrients that you cannot get anywhere else, and they aren't contained in our excess fat. The fat we have when obese was put there by carbs/sugar and hormone dysfunction, not healthy animal fat with all the nutrients in it. So while you'll have energy in your body fat, you won't have vitamins D3, K2, A, E, choline, DHA, EPA, etc etc. Eating low fat can worsen nutrient deficiencies plus you risk getting protein poisoning as well. Yes you will lose fat when you go very lean because protein poisoning (also called rabbit starvation) causes rapid weight loss, but you'll also lose your health as well as weight because protein poisoning can kill you eventually. It's far better to eat a proper, healthy diet that is sustainable that you can continue to eat that way for the rest of your life than try to hack the system for quick results that could cost you your health and have to change eventually anyway. In fact, many people find that by going even higher fat on carnivore can help push through a fat loss stall, likely because at 90% calories from fat and less than 9% calories from protein you simulate FGF-21, a hormone that increases lipolysis (fat burning) by an additional 400 kcal per day.
Dr Chaffee, you are so right about the fat. I had every problem when I started carnivore. Full on diabetic based on the symptoms I experienced. Two years in, I turned back the clock to my body I had in my twenties. I exercise in moderation, mostly stretching and jumping. I start my meals with fat. Lots of bacon fat and butter. Then meat and eggs. I might occasionally add a little piece of cheese as a desert. I can eat cottage cheese every now and then. But mostly animal fat, meat, and eggs. I am mid 60's, 120 lbs, 19% bodyfat, and work all day. I want to be able to live another 25 years this way, and I believe I can eating carnivore. It is difficult for people to believe what you say because these people would have to change their entire lives. But if you do, you will be successful and not need doctors. The system is probably going to collapse anyway, so be in shape so you won't need meds. Take responsibility people! Listen and apply what the good doctor is saying! 😊
I upped my fat. And my cravings for carbs have greatly reduced.
