Over the last hundred years, some WILD stuff has gone down in the world of genetics. Did you know that Stalin was once approached to be a sperm donor to create a perfect baby? Or that Jeffrey Epstein had a secret plan to create a squad of genius children on a mysterious ranch in New Mexico? Or that one man created a sperm bank that ONLY accepted “donations” from Nobel Prize winning scientists? Well, we’re gonna get into all that and more in this episode. This is the Dark History of… Designer Babies. I appreciate you for coming by, and tune in next week for more Dark History. Want some cool Bailey Merch? My grandpa passed away a few months ago. My cousin went to build-a-bear and used some of his voicemails and videos to make the sound bits for the bear. My cousin gave the bear to our grandma so she can always hear our grandpa saying he loves her and also has his big laugh. Thought I'd share cause it's so smart and wholesome

As someone who took a class dedicated to genetics I can tell you that CRISPR is 99% used for helping reverse conditions already present in people and not for modifying babies. Muscular dystrophy mutations are commonly helped by CRISPR therapy

But isn't it "survival of the fittest" as in "best adapted to certain situations" rather than "strongest"?

Personally, I think all our "imperfections" - whatever they are or what that means - is what makes the human race unique, diverse & individual. Eliminating disease, okay. But embrace the quirks & differences. Perfection is not all its cracked up to be!

I’ve got a cousin who’s dumb as a rock and married the same, had a kid who skipped grades throughout his education. That’s called lucky 😂
