Why Tolkien Still Matters in 2025 | Ben Shapiro Talks with LOTR Expert Malcolm Guite

It's so refreshing to escape from all the real life politics discussions and debates for once and just listen to some good old LotR and Tolkien stories.

If this guy was my teacher, I may have actually payed attention in class. 😂

I'm an Afghan veteran and a lifelong fan of Lord of the Rings, and when first watching the movies as a young teen I was so upset that the Scouring of the Shire was removed. But after coming home I realized that while what Tolkien wrote in the books was probably a very accurate portrayal of his homecoming, in that everything he had been fighting to protect had itself been damage by the war, the movie version seemed to perfectly reflect my homecoming. Everything was exactly the same, but it was I that was no longer the same.

Malcolm is absolutely delightful!! My husband and I love him so much and have followed him for awhile. Sometimes we listen to him because there is something so comforting and soothing when he speaks, as if everything was still all right in the world…. Even though we know it isn’t 😢

This is brilliant. I've been following Malcolm for years. Tolkien will always have importance, thanks to wonderful people like Malcolm Guite and all those who read and understand with an open mind.
