This is a wake up call though. We need to find alternative sources and suppliers. We can’t solely rely on China for extremely valuable raw materials.
It makes zero sense to be that dependent on China.
In the mean time, have you seen the issues Xi is having to deal with in China as a result of the tariffs? Factories are closing down, people are actually demostrating. Unemploument which was very high before the tariffs, is sky rocketing.
Important clarification: China “claims publicly” that it doesn’t want an off ramp. There’s often a wide gulf between what they claim and what they actually do (especially what they privately do). And yet China has been photographed sending their reps into meet US officials after requesting those photos not be circulated.
Right here in California we have a large, operating rare-earths mine. Unfortunately, the ore is sent to China to be processed ...
We needed a bensplanation for all this stuff going on. Thanks bro!
It was insane to allow China to control/process/produce systems to produce required minerals. This is a failure to control corporate greed over decades of manufacturing surrender. A little pain now for a successful future later is worth the cost.
i appreciate the Leroy Jenkins reference here...very appropriate.
Deng Xiaoping said: it does not matter how one justifies their actions; what matters is:”Does it work?”
The Chinese are accused of dishonesty and unfair trade practices. So, why should we trust that what they say is true?"
