He brought on THE CRITICAL DRINKER?? 😂 My worlds are colliding.
Matt is wrong about the Eagles. Even if they had agreed to carry the ring all that way, and managed to resist it's temptation, Sauron would have seen them coming from miles away and sent his forces to take it back. That was the point of the story; the eagles, Gandalf, even the armies of men, they could never bear the ring safely. Sauron expected the ring to be with the most powerful among the forces against him. He could never have expected that two short, humble, little hobbits could have succeeded where thousands before had failed, and that was his downfall.
I love that Shapiro brought an actual Cambridge Professor on to debunk Matt with facts and logic 😂
Ben Shapiro found an actual hobbit for this video. Amazing.
Matt: Says something Ben thinks is wrong about Lord of the Rings. Ben: Here's Drinker and Gandalf himself to refute that.
Just as nobody simply walks into Mordor, nobody simply flies into Mordor.
This professors eloquent take on the benefits of the literature was actually quite moving. Bravo.
The power of the temptation of the One Ring increases in proportion with: • The Proximity of the tempted to the One Ring. • The Proximity of the One Ring to Mount Doom. • The Power and pride of the tempted. The eagles in Middle-Earth are proud, powerful creatures, who would end up taking the One Ring for themselves. _"Why be a messenger, when you could rule the skies?"_ the ring would ask them, as they drew closer to Mount Doom. This is why it was necessary that a hobbit, the meekest and humblest of creatures, bore the ring to Mordor.
Matt complaining about the length of the movies. Meanwhile Tolkien complained he didnt make the book long enough! And I concur!
Eagles aren't a plot hole. They weren't safe to go into mordor until the nazgul's flying mounts were killed.
