Alex bringing Ester on is the best thing she could’ve done for her podcast on relationships! All of her interviews always have the same perspective on men and relationships which is very driven by the American ideology which revolves around the self. But it’s interesting to see Esters perspective who I’m assuming is French. And her perspective is truly about the WE instead of ME which we need more of!! Post pandemic it’s been a pattern that people are so easy to let go of relationships that don’t serve them but that inherently unhuman because as humans we know everything is not that black and white. It’s refreshing to hear how we can mend broken relationships instead of labeling them as toxic & letting go of them.
The way I GASPED! Esther Perel is a treasure!
Esther is a prophet. She summarized 18 months of couples therapy into 1 hour. 🙌
NO F****** WAY, Esther Perel, LETS GO!
"Do you put as much emphasis on who you want to be than who you want to find?" I wonder the same when I hear complaints from the same individuals all the time.
One of the best conversations on Call Her Daddy! Thank you, Alex.
Something that I feel like I had to learn the hard way in my 30s is that to find a good partner is an investment. And that you have to accept that it’s gonna take time because the odds of it just being one of your first few dates isn’t necessarily realistic. And I think when you want to find that person so badly that’s when you’re willing to settle for things that end up biting you in the butt later. Once I accepted that you’re gonna have to be OK with it taking a lot of time and a lot of dates and trial and error. It made me less willing to just choose someone because I wanted to be with someone.
I see Esther Perel, I click!! 🙏
I love the way Esther masterfully and respectfully cuts through the subjective, one-sided and oft self-involved interpretation of the dating / relationship experience to consider the duality, complementarity and meaning-making necessary for compromise and conflict resolution. She is a true genius, a complex thinker and an international treasure. Brava.
Being of a previous generation, I came to this episode of Call Me Daddy with the expectation that Alex would not do a good job with having Ester on her show. I was completely wrong. Alex is so articulate and asked good questions and listened. Amazing. It’s heartening to me that such a clear minded young person is in the podcast space.
