I was in a religious cult for 38 years. What Chase describes here is very true. Once out, I told my story so others would be warned. My daughter remained and disconnected from me. I’ve learned from my experience. Cults are all around us: religious, family, political, etc. They have the same modus operandi. Thank you Chase Hughes for sharing this with others.

Cult-ure! I identified with loyalty and a good person who could do good things to help others caught me, the cognitive dissonance was tough to get through. Thankfully, I had studied the likes of you and others I had the grounding to get out. This hits us all in one way or another in any circumstance, it's honesty, forgiveness and experience that we grow from. Hubbard's MO was duplication by changing the words but keeping the action, knowing these patterns really helps keeping the radar up. There's some wolves in 'healers' clothes that have inherited many of these traits, always look into the origin and history.
