....imagine being beaten as a child, every day, by two alcoholic parents, no friends, shunned by everyone...even as an adult, working as a firefighter, medic and cop, I still had this perimeter Chase is talking about....even now at retirement I cannot get rid of the never-ending unsolved, un-dealt with trauma I had so many years ago and accumulated more...I cannot relax because I feel guilty, not working makes me depressed and useless....it's amazing how far and how long negative life experiences last...thank you
I generally am not the kind to leave a comment, but this is probably the most important thing that I could hear in 53 years of my life. I genuinely thank you
Damn you are a SPECIAL individual. Not only do u understand all this, but you share it openly, and state it in a way that most can easily understand. You have a gift. Please continue to share it with us.
This was an excerpt from NCI Grad School, but I HAD to share it. - What should the next video be?
Chase, I am a trauma therapist. I am going to be sharing this with all of my clients. I educate them on this dynamic all the time. Thank you for the work you do.
At 68 years old I think I finally figured out my trauma response (one of them anyway). I am a nurse and I LOVE caring for my patients fully, loving them unconditionally. It felt so satisfying. I wondered if I would miss that when I retired (2 months ago). What I discovered is I can transfer that care and love to myself. I literally imagine myself talking to me the way I did to my patients - "how can I make you more comfortable?" " I am here to care for you, please let me know what you need." And I answer myself. I also make a point of telling myself that I am loved and sit quietly and feel that love. It has helped me so much.
So nice to have a human (not AI) explain things in such a digestible way
That is why this earth realm is so insane,...running on wounded unhealed children in adult bodies....
I'm 87 years old - Emotionally abused in childhood, constantly told I should never have been born and this was replicated in a 60 year marriage. In spite of that have lived a successful life, had a successful career as a psychotherapist, recently published my second book. The emotional cost is horrendous. To my knowledge Chase Hughes is the only person who grasps the whole picture - this video is brilliant. I am still learning! My sincere thanks!
You’re helping the world dude, please keep going!
