I've been on a whole foods diet this year, mostly keto carnivore, though I'm not religious about it. Dropped ALL excess weight, sleep is better, feel great, ALL joint pain disappeared. I'm 51 and haven't felt this good since my 20's.
The FDA needs to be broken up into the FSA and DSA/ Food Safety Administration and Drug Safety Administration respectively. Why they are and have been combined is absurd

I love this episode. I've been on this journey for almost a year now. I was able to get off proton pump inhibitors, I no longer have to take Tums after a meal, and my gallstones/sludge have dissolved. I haven't had any more gallbladder attacks. In the process, I lost 20 lbs. and have been able to maintain it with little exercise. I resolved these health issues by getting rid of ultra-processed foods, seed oils, refined sugars, and refined carbohydrates. I cook my food now, mostly whole foods such as pasture-raised eggs, grass-fed beef, organic chicken, wild-caught salmon/shrimp, lots of grass-fed butter, grass-fed raw milk/kefir, grass-fed raw cheese, some nuts, fruits, and vegetables that are low in sugar, etc. My blood work results look great, my stomach feels better, and my overall health and lifestyle are at my best in my 40s! Thank you for what you do @TheFoodbabe .
Thank you, Vani ❤ I said it out loud multiple times as well. Thank you for fighting this fight for so long. You are a real advocate for our collective health.
I've been eating a whole, real, minimally processed food omnivore diet for a long time and love this discussion!! Thank you, Vani - you're doing great work!! For what it's worth, I ALWAYS bring a sweet potato whenever I go out to lunch to put on my salad - I like a small amount of carbs, but don't want the restaurant's 40+ ingredient bread or wrap - or their nachos containing highly refined oils... I also always carry a tiny bottle of olive oil.. restaurants are allowed to call their oil "olive oil," even if it's been cut up to 50% with something else... and let's face it, I bet lots of times what they call olive oil is 100% soy or canola oil ;).
The big food industries have been at this game for more than 120 years. The book "The Poison Squad" by Debroah Blume is a basis for a PBS documentary, The Poison Squad", about a Dr. Wiley, a chemist by trade, researched the ingredients of food produced by big foods and its effects on the general public. He tried for years to expose the industry as he fought to have harmful ingredients banned. Excellent documentary and is well worth checking it out.
10:23 something that people don’t understand about that process through the FDA, which I have worked on is that the companies have to use a third-party testing such as a lab that’s through a university or some other GLP lab which stands for good laboratory practices in order to be certified. The FDA doesn’t utilize their own labs because if they did, it would be a tremendous cost
This is one of the most important issues facing American society today. Health is one of the cornerstones of a healthy society.
I started this path a couple weeks ago. I'm reading "Two Meals a Day" which outlines pretty much everything she has suggested here. I have always eaten relatively healthy, but I ho through periods where I eat a lot of fast food and I can definitely feel it.
