A lot of high performers do not burn out because they are weak. They burn out because they got too good at ignoring what felt wrong.
The answers you seek are in the silence you’re avoiding as been so important in the last two months for me and really helped me self reflect SO IMPORTANT!!
I agree with what you have been told and understand about becoming a dad. For me, it's knowing I wanted for me and nothing else. No conditions. At the time of writing I'm 2.5 years into being a dad
There is so much personal development that comes with having children. Of the highest, most selfless and transformative kind
Ugh the marathon "I'm going to make this relationship work no matter what" pattern, so familiar. Yes, suffering does not always equal "noble".
Congratulations on 1100 👍
On the psychological strength point, I always think about the Auden line when I think about that: "Was he free? Was he happy? The question is absurd. Had anything been wrong, we should certainly have heard."
This resonated right out of the gate perfectly. As a recently retired pro bodybuilder for 20 years, what was once an obsession has “cooled down to a brown dwarf” of perfect and auto pilot life balance. I’ll always miss the dance, but getting to live in the “optimal zone” is priceless. 🙏🏼
This is gold. Thank you Chris.
