"This explained so much — I’ve lived most of my life mistaking anxiety for responsibility. I recently shared a video called ‘Strong Outside. Breaking Inside.’ because so many of us look ‘fine’ while our nervous system is quietly on fire. Thank you, Dr. Kennedy, for giving words to what we feel but can’t name."
Brilliant stuff, Chris. Love your questions. As a former military person with PTSD I've eventually -- much trial and error -- followed a therapeutic path so similar as that outlined by Russell. Talk, somatic, transpersonal therapies, mild medication, combined, have made genuine progress. The shit is still there, but doesn't run my life... and joy, curiosity, grounded wonder and genuine purpose become very available.
It is so refreshing to see a neuroscientist explain BOTH the science and spirit of healing anxiety. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a doctor talk about connecting to your younger, wounded self. The SHOULD acronym resonated deeply with me. Thanks so much for this information. Greatly appreciated Chris!
It is good to hear this guest is dipping into the stored trauma piece within the first ten minutes. Finally! Bottom line: "Anxiety" is inherently a physiological state, but then we interpret it in our mind/thinking/cognition << so we think we need to work with the mind/thinking/behaviour, but we have to work at the stored survival stress level, which is a whole other topic in itself, because the reasons we stored survival stress is vast for humans.
I've listened to manyyy podcasts, but this one is exceptional! Listened to it twice, and will do again. Thank you so much both!!
In my humble opinion, I believe the ever changing increases in technology is adding to the rise in anxiety
I've been dealing with anxiety for a while now, and for me, Russell has been THE most eye-opening and relatable source of info to help understand what was happening to me. His book Anxiety Rx was literally a life-changer. It put me on the right path for recovery. I was able to find the alarm stored in my body and befriend it. Talk to it. Reintegrate it. As such, I'm doing much better today than I was a year ago. Russell, if you're reading this, thank you dude. Thank you so much. Keep doing what you do ❤
Wow, this episode truly hit for me. Super potent for my own life and applicable in ways that I coach others. Beautiful 🙏🌱
Thank you both! ❤
