you missed the most important part, the ending: "PS: Please excuse my not mailing this — but I don’t know your new address."
Love like this doesn't ask for forever - it becomes it. Not by clinging, but by choosing each other even when one is no longer here.
To anyone who's suffering depression, anxiety, insomnia and other mental health problems, you are not alone. I feel you. You are so brave. You are doing so well. I'm proud of you. I'm sending you a virtual hug ❤ what helped me get out of that dark spiral was journaling and mindfulness from Shift Your Mind by Alexander Brooks. The anxiety that used to control my whole day barely shows up now!🙏❤
there's no end to grief, that's how we know there's no end to love
I lost my hubby five months ago. We were together 30 years. I feel like part of my body got blown off and for some reason i didn't bleed out. I keep breathing and i dont know why. That letter is how i feel. I miss you David.
I wish you read the last part, it's what actually brought me to tears. Richard goes on to finish the letter by saying PS Please excuse my not mailing this — but I don’t know your new address. The profound sorrow that hit me with will haunt me.

What is grief? That. That is grief.
"There is a sacredness in tears. They are not a mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition and of unspeakable love." -Washington Irving
This poem resonated with me as my wife of 48years died 4years ago, my wife and I had our own take on dying probably as we worked together in the funeral business for 10 years. Watching the grief process while officiating in over 300 funerals made me aware how focussing on grieving can be very debilitating very quickly. I looked up the word grief in the Oxford dictionary and it states grief is a descriptive word that means Intense sorrow. I recommend when talking of a loved one to say I feel intense sorrow about the one I’ve lost, this can open the conversation where offering to help to reduce that intense sorrow could be an appropriate response. As when you hear I’m grieving it’s virtually impossible to make a comment as the grief process becomes a condition and not a descriptive word which it is.
