I've met a lot of Dave Smiths in my life. This one is by far my favourite Dave Smith.

That line about the difference between Dave's son and daughter hits hard. In the mid-1990s, when I was in the 7th grade at my small K-8 school of 125 students, our male principal retired and was replaced by a female principal. On day ONE, she introduced a slew of new rules. One of them was _"No running in the schoolyard during recess."_ What made it worse was, this rule was a _precaution;_ as far as I can remember, no one had ever gotten more than a scraped knee from falling while running. In the ensuing months, I noticed a few of the boys were a bit more disruptive in class than normal. Of course, the solution to _that_ was "Ritalin". 🙄
Close the gyms and churches, but keep the liquor stores and Walmart open. They will never recover from the eye openning lesson that was. The Covid lockdowns changed perpective permanently.
