Achara and Kristen watch the second Superman movie starring the great Christopher Reeve for the very first time! When three powerful Kryptonian criminals escape from the Phantom Zone and threaten Earth, Superman must choose between his love for Lois Lane and his duty to protect humanity. Superman II (1980) was primarily directed by Richard Lester (A Hard Day’s Night, Help!, The Three Musketeers), though significant portions of the film were originally shot by Richard Donner (Superman: The Movie, Lethal Weapon, The Goonies), who was later credited for his version in Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut. The film stars Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent/Superman (Superman: The Movie, Somewhere in Time, Deathtrap), bringing both charm and heroic gravitas to the Man of Steel. Margot Kidder plays Lois Lane (Superman: The Movie, The Amityville Horror, Black Christmas), the intrepid Daily Planet reporter and Superman’s love interest. Gene Hackman portrays Lex Luthor (The French Connection, Unforgiven, The Conversation), the criminal mastermind bent on world domination. Terence Stamp appears as General Zod (The Limey, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace), the menacing Kryptonian leader seeking to conquer Earth. Sarah Douglas plays Ursa (Conan the Destroyer, V: The Final Battle, Puppet Master III), Zod’s fiercely loyal lieutenant, and Jack O’Halloran takes on the role of Non (Farewell, My Lovely, Dragnet, King Kong Lives), the silent but dangerous Kryptonian brute. Rounding out the main cast is Jackie Cooper as Perry White (The Champ, Superman: The Movie, The People’s Choice) and Marc McClure as Jimmy Olsen (Back to the Future, Superman: The Movie, Apollo 13).
