Probably the best shootout scene in cinema history. The soundscape in that scene is unforgettable...even to this day.
De Niro and Pacino's conversation in the diner is a masterclass in acting and writing. Great reaction ladies.
Everyone was very COMPETENT in this story. That’s what makes it captivating to me.
This film is a masterpiece in tension and acting. I miss movies like this. The 90s were magic, here's hoping we get a new decade like that...
Tone Loc and Henry Rollins in the same film, you got to love it.
Neil bracing Chris' wife is pure professional survival. He needs Chris' mind to be ON THE JOB instead of worrying about his wife leaving him so he won't make any mistakes, so their jobs will run smoothly.
The scene of Pacino and De Niro having their conversation over coffee is a true masterclass in acting, writing and directing! These two enemies being completely honest with each other about their lives and how even though they respect each other they will not go easy on each other, it’s s impossible to look away from.
Val Kilmer didn't need to immediately wear a mask because the people were distracted by masked men with guns. The camera were cut earlier.
DeNiro when he realizes he’s safe then decides he’s going to go back for Waingro is some of my favorite acting ever. Not a word and just a full range of emotion plays across his face and Mann’s cool choice with the tunnel’s white light giving way back to the darkness
despite the 2.5 hour runtime, i went to the cinema 3 times to watch this masterpiece. The lack of score during the bank heist had me enthralled, even Mobys "god moving over the face of the waters" in the last scene with Vincent holiding Niels hand in his last moments got me in the feels everytime. The ultimate all or nothing narrative. Thanks Cinepals for picking this one up.
