I know for a fact that Robert Downey Jr wants to make a third film, but it keeps getting push back because he been busy with Marvel over the years.
"Come now...you really think you're the only one who can play this game?" I remember my jaw dropping when I watched this in theaters.
Sherlock actually DID die in the books, and in exactly the manner depicted. This was mostly due to the fact that the author didn't want to write anymore books about the character. It was only after a HUGE public outcry that Sir Authur Conan Doyle ended up bringing him back, claiming that he somehow survived and only faked his death.
Fun Fact: the chess game they play at the end is a reenactment of a real chess game between two masters. The game was dubbed the Game of Shadows
The scene where Moriarty starts doing the mind fight with Sherlock at the end blew my brain open when I saw this as a kid.
Moriarty's flaw is he doesn't expect self sacrifice. ... his psychological makeup doesn't allow for such an ending.
The gambling scene, all the money on the floor "now wait a minute" 😂😂🤣
1:08:08 - It actually does prevent him from dying from that height - If you watch the scene again, the water is NOT still. It's agitated, some sort of waterfall + river raft. This means the surface tension of the water was broken. You can fall from that height and make it, as long as you're an expert swimmer and the water is sufficiently deep enough to not hit the bottom or any nearby rocks.
Both Guy Richie's Sherlock Holmes are criminally underrated. This entire more so Jared Harris' portrayal of Prof.James Moriarty Is my favorite all-time portrayal in all of media. He embodies his arrogance and his equally intelligence that matches Holmes equally. Also the Cinematography, sound design matching with the editing and kinetic action from RDJ & Jude is pitch pitch-perfect synchronicity from every frame. Especially the forest chase 48:54
I like how you both thought it was the third act when barely halfway through the film.
