A Second Sphinx Emerges From 60 Radar Scans

George Howard just landed back from two weeks in Europe and Becket sat him down immediately. The trip had two objectives: attend the Filippo Biondi second Sphinx conference in Bologna, and drive to Sanlucar in Andalucia to sit with Michael Donnellan in his studio and look at the actual scans. He did both, and his read on each is direct. Bologna was a single-subject conference, no other speakers, no shoehorned subject, just Professor Corrado Malanga for two hours and Biondi for an hour in front of roughly a thousand people who flew in from around the world in 97-degree heat. The presentation is still being translated by Frank Rogala, Trevor Grassi, and Roberto, a week of work dubbing the video and translating the data-heavy slides, and George's position is that the community owes them a lot for doing it. His editorial position on Biondi is that a man does not throw away a 35-year career in radar tomography, leave his family, and fly around doing conferences to perpetrate a fraud, and that nothing about Biondi's character, demeanour, or technical background gives George the read of a con artist. The Donnellan visit was the more personally affecting of the two. George sat in Michael's studio in Sanlucar, the port from which Magellan and Columbus departed during the Age of Exploration, and navigated the actual high-resolution scans himself. What he found at 60 feet below the surface off the Andalucian coast was a circular wall, one section still standing, with the top two thirds blasted away and the rubble visible on the other side. The site sits exactly where a Mediterranean civilisation would logically place its capital, on the right side of the Pillars of Hercules, at a port that would have been above water 13,000 years ago, in the same strategic location the US still uses for its naval operations today.
