Y'all this is the most unhinged comment section I have ever seen in my life. 10/10
the search for the ultimate underlying "substance" to reality never ends...
Yes! Finally I am hearing someone in science say this! This is the fundamentally skeptical Humian position of a lot of science now (that reality is ultimately unknowable and all we can do is build models of, hopefully, increasing accuracy/approximation). Basically, it's the data scientist/statistical physics answer.
I'm most impressed with the fact that that guy held the microphone for over an hour.
Shiloh, Plato basically says this the Republic (and it's considered "mysterious") that Light is the mediator between external and internal reality... (he even constructs a handy little diagram) in Book 6 (Plato's Divided Line)
The fact that intention affects physical reality should be enough to indicate that conciousness is an integral component of it.
I mean, yeah, that's the tautology that Hume and Kant describe: everything that the human species can see/conceptualize is describable and knowable/comprehensible (but Kant's explanation is that this emergent property is due to the human's ability to see/conceptualize, not due to the 'things-in-themselves' out there. Fascinating to hear an argument that is moving the window!
I like how you think of a separation between the material and interaction by will.
