Win a meteorite💥! Join my email list: http://briankeating.com/yt Recently, Eric Weinstein made several critical statements about Leonard Susskind on Chris Williamson's Modern Wisdom podcast, challenging Susskind’s contributions to physics and putting his legacy under fire. But are his critiques fair? In this episode, I take a closer look at Lenny’s remarkable achievements and examine whether criticism reveals a double standard within the scientific community. I also dive into Eric’s proposal for a congregation of physicists invoking the fascinating history of the Shelter Island Conferences and explore how we can foster more open and constructive dialogue in the physics community. Tune in for this epic showdown in the world of physics! Leonard Susskind is an American physicist and a professor of theoretical physics at Stanford University. He is the founding director of the Stanford Institute for Theoretical Physics. In 1995, Susskind was the first to give a precise string-theoretic interpretation of the holographic principle and the first to introduce the idea of the string theory landscape in 2003. He is widely regarded as one of the fathers of string theory. Eric Weinstein is an American mathematician who proposed a unified theory of physics called Geometric Unity in 2013. He coined the term Intellectual Dark Web to refer to an informal group of pundits. Eric is a vocal critic of modern academic hierarchies, peer review, and advocates for advances in scientific theory. We discuss funding, academic freedom, and theoretical vs experimental physics. Someone: Eric Weinstein is critical of your work. Susskind: Who? That basically sums it up.

The upshot of this discussion appears to be, "What Is Wrong with Eric Weinstein?"

Eric really needs to address Timothy Nguyen who went through Weinstein theory and showed how flawed it is. Brain, if you got them together in a podcast, it would be epic.

Brian, i am so sorry to have to disagree with you. Lenny is WAY above Eric in every way.

The best thing I ever saw was the talk with Penrose and Weinstein on stage and Kaku on video. You could feel how annoyed Penrose was either Kaku just deflecting into name dropping concepts instead of answering the questions. Then Eric starting talking, dropping random bits of maths and lingo and you could basically see Penrose trying to stifle a laugh thinking “does he even know what he just said?”

I have watched every lecture of Leonid Susskind. A great teacher of physics.

“Stolen Valor” is a crazy thing to say Eric

i have nothing but greatest respect for Prof Leonard Suskind .I am not a physicist and my knowledge of physics dates back to my high school and I wonder if I had a physics teacher like Prof Suskind .May be I would have tried to become a physcisit instead of being a physician .His great scholarschip ,clear understanding of the basic principles and his great way of explaining these complex concepts in a way even a non physicist like me can understand and to top it all up his humility makes me to look for him anywhere I can find him when I am surfing the world wide web. . He is a genius and my Einstein ! Noble prize or not Lennie is Lennie ,there si no body like him . Hope he will get his much deserved Nobel soon !
