Premium fuel only in the Ram is a total deal breaker. That makes it insanely expensive to own and operate. What were they thinking?
I'm going to keep my Hemi for a while. That Hurricane has lots of jam but I'm going to watch the reliability for a few years before buying one.
Don’t think my math is mathing, how could they both get a 8.1 score but the Ford was up in more categories?
I am a Ford guy and I think the ram definitely has better materials etc. The tungsten trim is cool and very high quality. However I don't like the usability of the screen on the ram as opposed to the Ford. The Ford has more physical buttons which I like. And like he said the screen is more intuitive. The dash screen I prefer as well in the ford. The front storage in the ram looks amazing. Jealous of that for sure. But that's where it ends for me. There's no reason a truck manufacturer should require premium gas, that's insane. Ford has best of both worlds and can run 87 and 91 or 93. I'd like to see Ford with premium and how the 0-60 numbers compare then. I still think the ram would win, but atleast it would be apples to apples. I like the features of the Ford more like the tail gate step, rear lock box under the back seat, pro power on board etc. I believe also that the rams are known for having stupid low payload ratings. Can't do a truck with only 1,000lbs of payload. That's 4 Americans and your maxed out. If I had stupid money to spend I would get the Ford. I would build my truck exactly how I want it. Ford is king is the area as you can option your truck practically anyway you want, from gear ratio to engine etc. Plus the aftermarket support is much better. You could easily tune your ecoboost to make crazy power as it's been out for awhile. The ram is unknown at this point. My final thought is v6s are dumb and there should be a small v8 turbo because that's badass.
I love that Ram trims out the window bezel on the interior facing side of the doors. Note the visible red paint around the Ford's side windows from the interior, with the doors closed. Yuk. My beef with the interior of the new-ish Ram's interior is that the super handy upper glove box has been replaced with a stupid touch screen. The upper box still exists on lower trim trucks, but not even an option on Longhorn or Tungsten. A no-cost "Passenger Infotainment Screen Delete" option should be available to buyers. ARGHH!!!
Great overview. Last week, I drove a 2021 Ram Limited with the sea salt interior. Absolutely beautiful interior. I have been driving BMW M Sports for many, many years. The Ram 1500 Limited with the Hemi blew me away with acceleration, comfort, ride quality, low cabin noise, handling, and looks.
I like the look of the Ram , fit and finish are good. Seems most mechanics I speak to rate them poorly. The main reason I will stay with Ford is the aluminum body. I live in Maine where the only part of a vehicle that doesn’t rust is the tires. That is an area I can say the trucks I see rusting badly the fastest in my area are the Ram trucks. My F150 is 8 years old and I do try to take care of it , keeping it clean in the winter getting as much salt off as possible. There is Zero rust on my truck. So for me aluminum is the deciding factor.
No way around it, these new twin turbo 6 cylinders are insane. Motortrend got 4.4 0-60 for the Tungsten. Im willing to bet these motor in the new charger would put it right behind the old 700hp hellcat. Any way you slice its, mid 4s 0-60 for a 3 ton gas car is absurd for a non performance oriented trim. Anyone complaining about the V8 being gone is brainless. This is coming from someone who daily drives a V8 sports car lol
Both of these refreshed full-size pickups were impressive, but in different ways. The Ram's interior and performance stood out, while the Ford's utility and smart cargo/bed solutions made it a true workhorse. It's rare that we end up with a comparison that's so neck-and-neck, but each truck has distinct strengths. So which camp do you fall into, team Ford or team Ram? Let us know in the comments below!
Outstanding review in every way. I watched five reviews on this very truck comparison. This was by far the best one. All in under twenty minuets. I subscribed, keep up the good work.
