1 year ago - Apple to buy perplexity for 20 billion 😂 Now - Perplexity who ?
"you do get to a point where stupidity becomes way too expensive" 😅
Things are going great. The best case scenario now is for the AI bubble to burst before OpenAI and Anthropic get to IPO and vacuum up everyone's pension savings. Here's hoping it pops soon, so only greedy, clueless private investors end up holding the bag.
Google has famously retired or "killed" nearly 300 apps, hardware devices, and services over the last two decades. There are a few websites dedicate to them.
As someone who never asked for A I, here is my fear. A I will collect all the information that has ever been collected in every computer system over my entire life (thank you Palantir), then any company can use that information to extract every nickel from me . . . . so tell me, WHY IN THE F*CK WOULD I WANT THAT!!! Do these billionaires think they'll just shove A I down our throats, how does that make them money??? I can imagine dozens of ways AI could harm me, but I can't figure a single way it will improve my life!!!
Easily maintainable vibe code product. The problem was if you asked it to do repetitive tasks it said that is unethical against terms of service unhuman-like etc. Claudes chrome extension is the exact the same. So what you need it for it won’t do.
The number of people I've seen using Claude at my workplace, I wonder, what will they do if suddenly that tool just gets borked completely or worse, just straight up shutoff if Claude can't actually go anywhere? Honestly I'm bothered by its presence in general, not because it would even remotely replace me, but just the fact that someone thought it was a good financial decision to start giving it to everyone by request in our organization.
I'm curious to how Perplexity is still around when Atlas got shut down first? What did they do right that OpenAI didn't catch on to?
Never heard of it and i thought i knew them all, even obscure ones like the Zen browser... Must be a Mac thing...
Weird that OpenAI started worrying about ROI before all of the corpos buying tokens did.
