The *only* reason Iran would want to cut the internet cables is if the USA continues its aggression. Also, it is the USA that has a track record of blowing up infrastructure, not their perceived enemies, who by and large want to live in peace.
Considering how fragile modern society is, maybe it's worth remembering the proverb: "Don't be throwing stones if you live in a glass house."
